So, this month we are whisking you away for 5 days of silly, fun, awe inspiring, energetic and downright unmissable shenanigans! Destination Mayrhofen, Austria, for the awesome Snowbombing festival. Taking place from the 3rd to the 8th April 2017 in one of Europe’s finest ski resorts, t’s a good idea to fit in as much sleep as you can before you arrive, because sleep will be at the very bottom of your to do list with all of this going on……

Take to the slopes during the day. Ski and snowboarding lessons and equipment hire are available for those who need a little tuition, or just a refresher before setting out on their own. The Hintertux Glacier is a great all rounder, suitable for all levels and abilities, whereas you’ll only want to tackle The Harakiri if you are a seasoned skier/snowboarder as this is Austria’s steepest slope at 78°! The Ahorn is easy going and good for beginners. The Penkenbahn is the busy main run and boasts a brand new ski lift with free WiFi, no queues and takes just 8 minutes to transport you to the top of the mountain.

Here sits the Mountain Stage, above the clouds, where afternoon warm downs are delivered by the legendary Mr Motivator! By night, this stage is occupied by resident DJ’s and secret guests. Grab a schnitzel and schnapps and get dancing! If you want to be in amongst the snow action, without breaking a sweat yourself, then the Snow Park Terrace is the place to go. Chill out with a beer and a pizza whilst the Ride and Seek competition happens around you, to the beat of great music. A massive play area for the gravity defying competitors, who will leave you a tad awestruck during this 3 day long competition. Keep an eye out for the fake moustaches too!

The venues at the festival are all spectacularly unique. Ever fancied dancing in a huge igloo? The Arctic Disco is your place, it’s 6000ft up making temperatures sub-zero, don’t forget to take a moment to look up at the incredible view of the stars before you head in to party. The Forest Stage is an enchanting spot, set in amongst the pines, here is where you’ll see the headline acts of the week perform more awesome music.

For more raving, take a look at The Racket Club which is underground, the sound clarity is unbelievable. The Rompa’s Reggae Shack offers reggae music, a chilled out vibe and plenty of rum punch. If you really don’t want the nights to end, head to The Bruck N Stadl, which is open until 6am providing even more banging tunes whilst giving you the feeling of being inside an Alpine lodge. House, Dnb and Breaks resound underground, late into the night, at The Arena and The Haus is home to a selection of DJ’s and post piste party atmosphere. The Ice Bar has to be seen and The Sports Bar offers games, sports and yet more DJ’s!

The Street Party is an epic event and brings Mayrhofen residents and Snowbombers together for an explosion of fancy dress, colourful fun and incredible music. There is so much to get involved with during the festival, jump into the pool party, try your hand at beer pong at the Pongathon, meet your festival love at Chairlift Speed Dating, have a go at the Snowlypics and warm up the vocal chords with Cable Car-oke!
