It was an easy choice for this months destination article…..February of course brings us DIBS! The Dubai International Boat Show runs from 28th February – 4th March and as a destination, Dubai has it all!
YACHTNEEDS has just opened in the UAE and Asia, so it’s perfect timing to explore and experience everything Dubai has to offer.
During the show the focus, of course, will be on the spectacular yachts on display but there are a host of other attractions to keep you busy. For all of you car connoisseurs, the Super Car Promenade is the place to go to lap up the luxury.
If art is more your thing, check out the Marina Art Gallery which is connected to the Superyacht Lounge. Peruse or purchase work from artists all around the globe. Keep up to date with all of the latest nautical fashion in the Retail Village, or browse the amazing display of diving equipment at the Dive Middle East Exhibition.
Get the adrenaline going (or just chill out and take 5) at DIBS own private beach. Try your hand at kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, sailing and windsurfing. If you choose the chill out option then there are professionals willing to entertain you with their hoverboard, flyboard and jetpack skills.
Don’t miss the impressive night shows, Alight with millions of LED’s! The Marine Concept Sea School will be on hand to teach you new boating skills or refine the ones you have already. The beach will also be the place to go for live music and performances throughout the show.
Of course, Dubai isn’t all about DIBS. The city has so much to offer day and night, from traditional falconry displays and souks, to skydiving and awe inspiring modern architecture. The Burj Khalifa boasts the title of tallest building in the world at 829.8m high, so the observation decks gift you with breathtaking views of Dubai. If you would rather be at sea level then take an abra ride or dhow cruise along the Dubai Creek which runs through the heart of the city. You’ll be surrounded by a mix of historic charm and modern buildings, and by night the the city buzzes with clubs, discos, shopping and entertainment everywhere.
The sandy places of Dubai should not be left out of your itinerary. Ever fancied dune bashing, sand skiing, or quad biking in the desert? Get yourself booked on a 4×4 Desert Safari! Choose a morning, evening or overnight safari. Each offers slightly different activities including camel rides, belly dancing, bbq’s, sunset photography, and many others! The JBR Open Beach is another sandy option, with more water sports to try, camels to ride, and space to relax. The Walk at JBR is lined with restaurants and shops and is the perfect promenade to take a stroll along the waterfront.
Pick your favourites or try to fit it all in, this awesome city will not disappoint whichever you decide. You may just need to plan another trip!
As always, just a few things before we go….
