Just the thought of dragging your luggage behind you wherever you go is enough to make your muscles grimace, your travel wardrobe shrink, and your mojo for your trip take a slight nosedive. Have we found you a solution to all of the above? Of course! We have found two, yes two super cool, practical, and downright joyous options to answer all of your luggage prayers!
First up is the Micro Luggage Scooter from Micro Scooters. This is every bit as good as it’s name suggests because, you’ve guessed it, it is an adult sized scooter with integrated suitcase! Let the airport fun commence!
Just imagine the fun you’ll have from the dock right up until you get on that plane, scooting around without a bag on your back or a care in the world! The suitcase on the scooter is hand luggage sized with a capacity of 26 litres and approved by most airlines, which is brilliant, but it is definitely worth checking before you’re all packed and ready to go. The dimensions to know are 56cm x 35.5cm x 25.5cm.
If you get tired of riding the scooter (we can’t imagine a time when that would ever happen) then the Micro Luggage Scooter does fold into a regular looking pull along hand luggage suitcase with the option for carrying as well as wheeling. All of its parts can be easily replaced or fixed meaning that it literally has a never ending lifespan, making you one totally environmentally conscious traveller!
Our second find is the Travelmate, a fully autonomous suitcase built by Travelmate Robotics. This suitcase will follow you wherever you go and follows simple voice commands and gestures, all the while seamlessly avoiding people around you and other obstacles whilst using LED indicators to alert you to the direction it is taking. It will even respond to its name, which you get to choose! Travelmate comes in 3 sizes and you can use multiple cases at once, they will avoid colliding with each other as well as all other obstructions.
This luggage option is used in conjunction with the Travelmate app which will show you the location of the suitcase. If Tony (that’s the name of our case obviously) senses that he is no longer following you then his wheels will lock, making it really hard for anyone to run off with him. Even if someone did manage to haul your case away they wouldn’t be able to open it without your fingers close by. Yep, you’ve guessed it, the locking system requires your fingerprint to open it.
The guys at Travelmate Robotics are rolling out new features for ‘Tony’ soon. Full voice integration is on its way, so think Siri in a suitcase…..how cool would it be if your suitcase could order your cab as soon as you got off the plane and order a takeaway for when you arrive home??? There will also be room for any developers amongst you to create your own features for your new travel companion, so the possibilities really are endless.
So which option will you choose? Personally, we like the idea of scooting our hand luggage through the airport on a Micro Luggage Scooter with ‘Tony’ Travelmate following along behind us. Whichever you choose, travelling just got a welcome injection of fun!
